THE GREEN DIVIDE by Erwin Sikkens

The GREEN DIVIDE is the longest – and above all greenest – start-to-finish forest offroad bikepacking route in the Netherlands. What started many years ago as an idea to ride the length of the Veluwe forest from Arnhem to Zwolle, developed into a popular and beautiful 2-4 days bikepacking route, stretching 300 KM across the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and Veluwe forests and national parks.”

We met Erwin while on the route of the Gran Guanche with outer detours , he was one of our guides along with the famous bike packer Weronika Szalas. He invented this route and we have been planning to do it ever since.

John (CLS) Harty and Jan (TT) Sweeny had already done parts of it and this time we plan to join forces….. if Johns self inflicted back pain holds up. The route itself will take us three days from Schiphol airport and we hope to do the run back in one day.

The outward route

Scheduled for 5th to 8th May 2026 , taxi to airport is booked , tyres changed and other random fettling. Packing to commence soon and I’m hardly over the Dirty Reiver.

Will post events here daily from the 5th. Relying on Johns recovery as we need him for entertainment.
