Todays Route

Joined today by Rory/Ruairi/ Ruaridh , started off dry but soon reduced to drizzle and with strong SE wind . From the glen , first right , over to top Burma , down Badger which some kind person has cleared . Out to Sallys Yard (being careful to close all the gates properly ), up as far as the post then turned left and headed for Ballynagelty which was even windier , Kenny just LOVED it . Joined the trails just above Kodak corner after a slip fest to get there . Back up trails to top of switchbacks , over slieve martin to tunnell and down to trails again and home .

A great spin even if weather piss poor , Mr Power absent with the usual poor medical excuse , Stephen moped all day , no fun at the front on your own. John (SCO) also notable abscence in the run up to Spain , heard he was “sloping” off somewhere .

Nice group today including Pam on her new powder blue steed , very bling . Off up Giants Pad , second right and switchbacks. Only COC and Herr Obenfurher McMahon got the clean round not back considering my age and his Flu!
Its a shame Kenny was away today sitting comfortably in his Recaro seat while his sibling once more treated us to some dubious navigation skills , first missing the turn for post ( after all we’ve only gone there about 1000 times) and then leading the troops back up Sally rather than out to the saddle and depriving us of a good 2 miles .
Back to mast , tunnel , trails to yellow water and reverse castle bog to home . Alex put on a sterling performance on the climb only just missing a clean run to the top of Catle Bog.
Dont forget CCAR 4 next week.

Glen LANE, a set on Flickr.

In order to avoid the baggy trousered youffs at the MTB event and at Mr Powers request we headed for Glenloughan lane . Normally a big day taking 4 hours ,and so classed as a Mepic .But with Mr K and Mr P driving at the front ( despite cormac having some sort of terminal cough and Alex dispersing viruses at an alarming rate) we headed up Sallys to post across saddle to get out of wind which was howling , squirelling ( a kinbotism) down to gate which was fun and across to Kilfeghan. Out onto the road where it was obvious that no roadie etiquette had ever been learnt by our two leaders who left the rest of us to organise ourselves.
Up the lane chasing the two boyos who had had a snooze when the rest of us arrived .
At this point we required the services of Mr E Cooper to navigate us down to Fallow , a poor second best was Kinbote who was either blind folded or practicing his astral navigation without any stars . He took us over cliffs and down the muddiest shucks possible . Come back Eddy ..all is forgiven!
Home by green road leaving superstars to do it all again!

Roll Call for Wales , COC , Herself , Mr’s Power and Kinbote , The Navigator , JOD , Alex , the horse and hound , Davy , Molly , Sea , Shane and Owen , withe Drew arriving direct from Sheffield and still managing to be late 🙁

Straight off the ferry to Penmachno , quick loop to allow Drew to arrive back to car park to pick him up and then a full loop of Penmachno , VERY WET especially for poor Hugh who took a dip in a murky pond . JOD also suffered with a last minute over the bars , injuring his knee and requiring vetinarian assistance .

Then off to accomodation which was top class and highly reccomended. http://www.tynant.me.uk/
Full dinner for 14 with nibbles starters , choice of mains , dessert and birthday cake .

Saturday was to have been the Beast trail at Coed y brenin but as most of thet was closed we settled for a warm up on the blue minotaur and then a loop of the tarw trail , finishing with a session on the xcellent training trails .

Home early and out for feed , not bad but not as good as fridays grub!

Sunday was to be Snowdon and most were keen , strangely a few of those who had perhaps 😉 overindulged on the Saturday night could not be roused.

The rest of us headed to llanberis , stopping at Pen Y pas to be told we would need crampons ! About turn and back to Bets y coed for a lash at the Marin trail which was really excellent if wet and very muddy .
Just time for lunch and off to the ferry .

We will return to Ty Nant and Snowdon must be conquered!
