Slaughter The Ninth

In which Doc Lewis nearly gets a clear round ,Liz takes a short cut , Scullion gets a hair cut , Dan and Eamon bring the wrong bikes , The COC nearly quits , Cormac stayed healthy for the day ,No 6.1ers in sight bar the two double agents and not even a glimpse of a Rossi .

The child of Prague deployment was spot on ,I dont think we have ever had a better day . As cycling goes its up there with the thriller as the best day day on a bike. Hills to challenge , descents to conquer , craic , slander and nice cups of tea.

Only 20 takers which made for little stopping and with no punctures or mechanicals the pace soon took its toll on me for one . In fact I nearly withdrew after 3 rounds if Rowan and Kenny had not prevailed on me and I knew I would never hear the end of it. There were some good excuses today but Scullions was by far the best ..he needed a haircut for going out apparently!!

Doc Lewis entered the switchbacks with clear rounds on the 3 previous climbs the elusive 4th just escaped him however and he finished a broken man .

A great day , have to think of a twist for next year to mark the 10th !

Route here .

By The Light Of The Slippery Moon

The Rossi once again made the mistake of arriving at the glen at 7 . I think they really like it even if they try their best to complain and look unhappy . Martin apparently had a sick note although I do not remember signing it.
An easy spin was in order with the Slaughter looming , Fiddlers , view point , trails to top .A Beautiful evening with glorious skys and a lovely silvery moon , bit wet and slippy on tunnel descent but BG showed the way .
A little bit of reverse trails to fallow . Home in a shot with the Rossi showing a clean pair of pedals on the descent.

See you all Saturday 9am sharp @Brian Scullion

The child of Prague appears to have been deployed a week early , I can only hope that the effect will carry on till next Saturday !

With the Slaughter only 7 days away some climbing was in order . However as Kenny had no brakes and was descendingly challenged this proved an issue . I was somewhat less than sympathetic after his “devil may care” treatment of my switchback ascent , and it was all I could do to share my genuine jelly babies with him after the put down.

Cormac , John (SCO) , Scullmeister , Herself and PS made up the group. Giants pad , Fallow , Tunnel, Knockshee , Post , dropping down to high gate , back up Sallys to post , Left towards Ballynagelty fence then right and back to Slievemartin . Lovely day for it .

9AM SHARP NEXT SATURDAY AT FOREST OFFICE , IF YOU WANT TO GET A HEAD START THEN HEAD UP BURMA ROAD TOWARDS BALLYEDMOND WOOD.
