“The Hill That Keeps On Giving”…Glenloughan Lane

Given the forecast a good spin was in order .With Mr Power shredding himself at enduro practice and Mr Hull on nappy duty ,It was left to PS,Herself , COC, The Late Mr Scullion ( yes he was) and Doc Lewis ( less half a toe-nail) to make up the numbers . Also joined for the first time by Richie who n his FB messages appeared concerned he might not keep up…Ha! Flyin Machine . Look out Mr Power .

The Route took us up giants pad , Low fallow corner , down along the river to nurses cottage , road to Glenloughan lane , up Finlieve , back down to Formal , Milltown lane , losing a few early birds here and Tim who was suffering after near self amputation. PS , Richie and COC then headed back up Kilfeaghan lane in order to appease Mr powers request for at least 1000m climbing . Over shoulder of knockshee , across Sallys to Ballynagelty and home by viewpoint and river walk . A mega spin . Mountain as dry as it ever has been . Mr Scullion was full of music today with a “hey Jude” ear worm .

1300m of climbing should keep Mr P quiet .

thriller with a small t

The vintage car rally invasion made it a good day to evacuate and with the start of Thriller season some felt the Cooleys a good call .
After the usual prolonged debate about starting time and venue , Tims idea (of starting at Omeath doing the back loop then leaving the front loop as an option) was accepted .

Paul was there for the inaugural ride on new steed , its looks like the piggy bank may have been raided. Kenny , Tim , COC , Herself , Dan and Eamon made up the numbers . Cormac had been unable to fix his car although what he couldn’t have just cycled up from Dublin and met us I dont know.

We escaped any rain which was a miracle given the forecast . Kenny was off form and about half way through , COC and Herself offered to navigate him out on a shortcut to Skull alley 😉 . The others proceeded along the usual route and were never seen again .

Blood ,Sweat and Midges

Poor show tonight , Mr S was so late he never arrived , Dr L was at home stroking his new 38C tyres , PS doesn’t want to get new bike dirty and the Rossi crowd are saving themselves for the W200 , probably just as well.
Only the trusty BG and Kenny turned up with COC on a rare Tuesday night appearance. The mountain was as dry as dust , Fallow , loop , trails , Tunnel, Mast , Ballynagelty and home . Clear rounds for all on mast and ballynagelty , grip to spare.

The midges were plentiful so stopping anywhere was out of the question , poor Kenny took a bad fall coming ogg Ballynagelty , but was more concerned about the bike than the blood streaming from his elbow . BG helpfully added it would need 4 stitches. Beautiful night with stunning views of the lough and the sunset . Glad to be back.
