ei pitkä matka, päivä 5

Tralee last night in the Ashe Hotel not bad and buffet breakfast left room for making sandwiches for lunch 🤫

Met some nice Americans from New York State , the place is chock full of yanks.

The day did not start well as after a brief sojourn in my back pocket ,my garmin decided that Finnish was to be the days language. This led to the first red flashing marital status of the holiday, thankfully short lived and sorted with Google assistant.

Quiet on way out of Tralee ,a bicycle lane of sorts …

No prizes here.

Very different scenery today , flatter , more agricultural, less traffic and a bit run down .

On towards Tarbert ferry at a ferocious pace as we thought it only ran every hour. Just made it. A track pump on the far side was useful also.

Then rolling spin to Lahinch which is somewhat uninspiring after the beauty of cork and Kerry. Windmills everywhere. intermittent light rain , coats out for the first time, but still very warm.

Got in to B and B in good time , best avg speed so far.

Wordle 4/6 , lost but still well ahead for the week .

No swims , first rain of the week so I assume that the sleeping Joseph is roused. 😔

There have been some enquires from a viewer in Brighton (Hove actually) re the state of contact points. Which is polite for how is your behind holding up? Well the liberal application of chamois creme , more contemporaneously known as bum butter appears to be working although it’s been touch and go for a few days 😳.About grade 2 at its worst.

I would suggest a scale similar to the Bristol stool scale for easy reference

0=normal skin appearance, feels like sitting on a sofa.

1=normal skin appearance , feels like sitting on a church pew.

2=mild redness of skin at contact points , feels like sitting on 180 grade sandpaper but bearable .

3= intense redness , feels like sitting on 60 grade sandpaper, need to stand occasionally.

4. Blister formation, feels like sitting on broken glass

5. Ulcer formation, get off the bike and walk.
