Our trip nearly came to an abrupt end as we approached the race HQ on black ice nearly wiping the van out . You could barely stand let alone ride a bike at 9am . It did improve a bit later on and weather nevers holds Ivan of CCAR back .<\/p>\n<p>Great NTSR turnout apart from the usual suspects, The horse and hound , the two morrows , davy and owen , and new recruits horace and ed who were to accompany \u00a0us for the crack .<\/p>\n<p>Things started badly as the COC headed off 90 degrees wrong , horace was soon on the ball and we started again .Fence corner was the description of the first marker and we spent 30minutes looking at the wrong fence corner from every conceivable angle. In the end we returned yet again to the start , steadied ourselves and found it , the rest were easy , although compass man ( horace) did have to rein us in a bit . We were not the only ones in trouble , davy and owen spent nearly as long as us looking for the first one as well but their youth and speed soon saw them in the distance .<\/p>\n<p>Back to base and on the bikes , the roads were lethal so speed was low , it was baltic and Herself started to display signs of hypothemia after 5 or six points. So we had to return to base stopping only to fix a puncture ( just what you need in &#8220;feels like&#8221; &#8211; 10 .<\/p>\n<p>The horse and hound were as expected first in with a good finish , next was davy and owen then the morrows and last but not lest ed and horace .
