Scullion Celebrates 50 with a Puncture

With some of the usual suspects still proving reclusive , an old friend joined us after a sojourn down under .Chris Burns who was a regular many years ago is back , but struggled to keep air in his tyres today along with both Brian and Eamon . Peter who had Mr M tweaking his gears at the start later developed a non- functioning rear freehub ,so that was the end of his day .

Robbie and I had been commenting on how it would be a nice calm spin with no pressure when Eamon and Rowan descended late ( at about 100 mph) , so that was the end of that . They went up Castle bog like a couple of scalded cats , leaving the rest of us including our latest quinquagenarian gasping for breath .

Reminder that Santa Run is on Sat 15th December ( santa was busy on the 22nd ) , hopefully our German department will have returned and the camper is away for the season . Good luck to our Scottish rep who is having new suspension fitted soon , looking forward to his return to full speed .

ROUTE was fairly standard

Apologies re photos ..only had phone with me .

The Emperor’s new clothes

Today was the big reveal of the new kit , Cormac couldn’t come as his jersey wouldn’t cover even his arm , I did think a medium was risky for him . Kenny had been warned but insisted there was no way he could be seen in a XL never mind an XXL . Emma might need a sharp knife to get his jersey off , hope she is careful. John Murray refused to come as we had not incorporated any tartan in the new design .

Robbie decided that NTSR might stand for Not The Slim Riders , which is close to the truth whereas Kenny thought NTRS might be better ..Not The Right Size.

In any event most folk seem happy so big shout out to Martin McGinn ( and Julie who did most of it ) and Maria at Spin 11.

Dan , Eamon , Scullion (our new Sponsor) , Peter , COC ,Doc, Liz and PS made up todays posse . Headed up Sallys to post and then to much trepidation from Robbie we headed into the mist towards Knockshee , dropping down to bath and back towards Fallow in very poor visibility . We took care to check that Robbie was ok along the way . Scullion had a spectacular dismount in the mud and unfortunately the camera took a while to get out , the new jersey got a fair testing . Dropped down to fallow corner then back up to Tunnel and mast , with a surprising number of clear rounds . Drooped down to style and then on to Badgers claw for an early finish .

Failed miserably to achieve a ” Power ” spin with only 800m climbed .
