Further to Tuesdays appearance “T” arrived on her new bike which required more faffing. It looked like the pit lane at Brands Hatch as The Doc , Mr Power and Paul M attached various bits of plastic mudguards . These of course to stop the new bike getting dirty . Cormac had to lie down on the ground every time there was a puddle or any dirt so she could keep the bike clean , and when the mountain got just too muddy, T, Didi and Paul M headed off in search of some nice clean grass . Herself returned today but only in gravel mode and managed to subtract Mr Scullion from the group.
Todays route was definitely a 2 banana spin especially if like MR P and Doc you started at 8 and did 400m before 9. Route stated at Glen , Fiddlers , view point , stone , mast , low fallow corner , nurses cottage , road to glenloughan after a short delay to rewire Shanes Di2 . Finlieve lane and back into Fallow and home . My Garmin ran out of battery so no route till someone send me a GPX .
Good route from Finlieve down to Fallow bar the last 2-300 m which could do with a bit of exploring.
Having saved Germany from itself Cormac finally made it out today , he claimed to be in poor form but was noted at the front on most occasions. Meanwhile in the groupetto Robbie was secret training for “The Rock” , apparently his camelback was filled with lead so when he hits France he will be unbeatable. He would need to get his bike sorted before that as he had to borrow my spare today and by the time Mr Power had serviced it Mr Scullion had arrived ..and you know what that means.
Newby Peter joined us today also ,having turned up last Tuesday expecting a gentle spin only to meet Doc Lewis and Rowan , it cant have been pretty! A duet of Cuchulainn riders made up the bunch with PS and John (SCO) failing to provide sick notes.
Route was Sallys , Knockshee , road , Formal , home . A few hardy perennials went off on the trails for more .
Slaughter date is set for 20th OCTOBER be there ...
Shop for Jerseys is now CLOSED and will reopen in about 10 years . Blame Brexit .
Poor turnout with Mr Power too busy siphoning the gross national product of Germany into his post office account , Mr Hull probably off camping and Doc Lewis with no sick note.
Old reliable PS was there to try and improve on Thriller performance and hoping for a few gems of advice from COC . Scullion returned following USA trip where he was no doubt selling his services to Mr Trumpet . There were no photos of course as the man who has never taken a bad photo could never be seen with the man who has never taken a good one.
It was gentle spin with much productive talk on how to solve Brexit /Northern Ireland /The Pope / World peace etc etc .
Castle bog , red bog , Fallow loop , trails to home with a bit of sliart 😉
I was going to title this “New Paul loses virginity in threesome” but your filthy minds would have jumped to the wrong conclusions and search engines would have gone into free-fall .
Quite simply there were three of us , John (SCO) , COC and New Paul , hence threesome and Paul managed a clear run for the first time on climb at Batts wall. Our reputation is as ever retained.
A gentle spin today in the absence of the Powerful one , Castle bog which is riding extra well, down to the ford and over the old route at red bog , Its years since we started building on that and now someone has taken up the mantle. Lost John here and headed out trails back to ford and home with good speed .
It would appear that the child of Prague was indeed re-housed and the mountain is looking all the better for it with the heather coming into bloom beautifully.
Another glorious day with the mountain as dry as dust . I’m getting close to looking forward to just a little rain . John (SCO) returned after a long absence as did Paddy Good-fellow .
Mr Power had an Ardrock preparation head on and had planned a 1500 m climb for us . Unfortunately he had not tabled this at the AGM and Kenny called him out of order .
Two clean rounds on the switchbacks , Mr Power by the traditional route and COC by the apparently disallowed right hand route …PAH!
Mast was next stop then out to Fern Gully which it has to be said was very ferny , we nearly lost John (SCO) , New Paul was still bleeding after an earlier fall so we could follow the trail of blood to find him!
Back up Sallys to the bridge , turning right out towards knockshee , back towards Fallow by bath and up again to the mast . Then home for some but more climbing for Mr Power and Robbie up Ballynagelty before home .I wonder did he hit his target?.
